Name of current/last employment--dates started/ left position bullet points on functions/responsibilities/achievements Ffocusing on those areas that are relevant to the type of position you are now seeking.
Try to keep it to one page. Depending on your age, don't mention education. If you've attended any training related to your job put that in..
I read CV/resumes all of the time and only want to see stuff related to the position I am hiring.. Education is used to include or exclude if there are many candidates.
if the majority of the positions are temps... list them as you feel comfortable. temp positions are not something that is going to cause you any grief because you basically work for a single agency who sends you to different places. that wont be an issue.
Oh yeah what about aliases?? ie nicknames, former married names??? The reason I ask is because when I left active duty I was still married, and I am no longer married so if they ask to see my discharge papers they will see the different name.
just use the name you carry now. again, if you want to, you can add that in the final narrative but its not a big deal. address that one as needed, but dont get to worried about it as it can easily be explained during an interview if it should come up. if i think of anything else... i'll send it your way. really... you will do fine and im sure im not alone in keeping fingers crossed for you :).
My friend was letting me borrow this book that she used to write her resume' and one of the resume's they had listed as being one of the best had a serious typo in it.....1990 -2003 = 20 years????

...always use positive descriptive words such as... challenging, exciting, positive, pro-active, etc.
...example: "I have established a wide background within an office environment and considerable experience as a ******. I have been fortunate to participate in numerous exciting opportunities and have built upon my skills and experience consistently whilst contributing to various major projects. In addition to having played a significant role in the initiation and development of ******, I can demonstrate meeting demanding deadlines and working to tight timescales"...
...use bullet points to list your abilities...:
- much experience in......... - conversant with current software applications/packages - proficient in.......... - familiar with ....... - strong communication skills/inter-personal skills - capable problem-solving, decision-making....... - thorough, methodical, attention to detail - adaptable, flexible........ - ability to deal with....... - organisational skills - team player etc, etc.....
...try to also tailor your resume to highlight/emphasise the skills and abilities that the role will specifically call for...
...jazzing up your resume is acceptable, lying is not...
...just a few thoughts?...hope it helps just a little...and GOOD LUCK.
Ok what about common abbreviations that are well known or should be well known in the specific field??? For example polymerase chain reaction is almost always refered to as PCR.....should I call it PCR or should I spell it out??
Try a free template from Microsoft word. Makes it easy. Just pick a template that works with your version, there are alot for 2007 only, I found one for 200 that works just fine, Kind of a fill in the blank.
