I am sooo glad I scored this ripper of a job, and am weaning myself of this.
This way I stick only to the most interesting contacts, and threads .... Besides I juuuuuuuuuust cant be bothered with all that mud throwing anymore. 23 July to 27 Sept. was bad enough... thanks to you know who.
Well, its simple not to get into any arguments. Please note that I'm not joking!!
Just observe the following:
1. either ignore the thread 2. or before posting re-read what you typed, and see what would be your reaction if it was addressed to you. If you find it offensive, reword it or better still, don't post it.
Personally, I prefer your second option which is what I practise on here...
Sometimes we are already in a peaceful thread when someone deliberately sets out to cause trouble and incite members against each other.
Sadly, some people don't even realise they are being used as pawns in these type of mindgames So, it's too late for them to ignore the thread and not go in it or did you mean to say ignore the argumentative posts aimed at them?.. Which is good advice but sometimes easier said than done if people have become heated, upset and not thinking straight
You've got a point regarding the part were people are being used by pawns. To be honest, sometimes I'm on the verge of joining an argument, and would already have written my post, but I take heed of my second point, and end up not posting.
Its all a question of character, there are people who are just impulsive and others who are more reflective. I don't blame those who are impulsive, especially in the middle of an argument, but it would be better if at least they try out my second point before posting.
Very good point! Let's make this a safe, fun place to visit and chat on. If you dont' have good things to say, email them privately to someone instead of posting for the world to see. Afterall, you just make yourself look bad by fighting and saying mean things..
Hey got an idea... post a thread for just the angry ones and they can b--tch all day on that one thread..
A very good observation and thought My Dear Eupho.
I'm here to make friends and possibly, Lord willing and the creek don't rise, to make a connection.*prays really hard for that one* I've already made many acquaintances and have read so many fights and disagreements. I was a moderator for a message board for a couple of years, so have learned not to have such a thin skin and to let the malarkey roll off of my back.
There's always going to be alike and differing opinions, but friendships should survive those, provided that they're strong enough. Squabbles, settle, some leave for various reasons, more come for more various reasons, etc... With as many members that there are here and with new members joining daily, there's always new opportunities to make more friends and hopefully to meet and make that match! We should consider ourselves fortunate to have the opportunity to make friends here, chat, discuss anything and everything under the sun and then some and all without having to pay a penny. It sounds pretty good to me.
I agree, then if they are still not in a calm enough frame of mind to think rationally they should be big enough to say they're not going to allow themselves to be drawn into arguments then just exit the thread sharpish.
