I just listened to a piece on NPR last night where they talked about Bush and the war in Iraq.
It was quite vivid and well organized. They talked about the WMDs and how Bush and company sold that idea to the country and congress. They aired excerpts of speeches by Bush, Cheney and Rice assuring the public of the rock solid evidence that existed.
For every excerpt they aired they matched it with a more recent clip of some specially appointed investigative committee (appointed by Bush in many cases!) that conclusively found that no reliable evidence ever existed.
It was pretty convincing.
They did precisely the same concerning connections between Iraq and Al Qaeda. First airing excerpts of speeches delivered to America by Bush, Cheney, and Rice claiming to have supposedly "rock-solid" evidence of the connection. Then aired the results of more recent investigations that claimed that no credible proof of any such connection ever existed.
After listening to that report I'm surprised that the approval rating isn't more like 0%
It's way too late now, but at the time we invaded Iraq I was fit to be tied. I was so against that for months leading up to it. I still can't believe that Americans even permitted it to happen.
The original attack on the Taliban and so forth was totally justified. The invasion of Iraq? I see that as ENTIRELY a personal desire of G. W. Bush. Maybe a personal thing because of the history between his daddy and Saddam. Certainly not a wise move for the USA.
I try not to get into politics. I really don't want to argue about it. The damage is done. Arguing about it at this point is stupid. I support our Troops no matter what. I appreciate any good things people might be trying to achieve in Iraq after the fact. But overall the invasion of Iraq was nothing short of pure Neanderthal stupidity.
The concept of the WORLD WORKING TOGETHER to SLOW TERRORISM is something I think all good people want. Easy to say, tuff to do. Do we as human beings stop caring about others and stop showing HUMANity? Atleast two sides to every story. I am very interested to see how Hamas handles their new power of government. They don't have to suicide bomb anyone anymore to get their way, they got it, so we will see what kind of "quality of life" they provide to the people. If it works it could change the way we war.
There should be no place on earth where people endure terrorism of any sort. Do we just let our little world get worse? Or do you try and help and do something. Crime is not going away anytime soon so do we just give up on that and allow mayhem?
My hope was by this time we would have been done with Iraq returned it to her people and then move on to the next worst location for terrorism and so on and so on until we have a earth we can be proud of. On the other hand we could just let all the poor and helpless souls fend for them selves. I guess that is how mother nature is so why not? Eventually all the bad, kill the good, and then the bad kill the other bad until we are all done..next species... Each way is unpleasent but "I would rather die trying to help my fellow man then live in fear". I think unfortunatly we are going to get a little worse before getting better. I think the rest of the world needs to step up on a united front not just U.S,Gr.B and Austraila. Or is there just not that much world left? I wonder where we would be if Canada and the U.S stayed out of WWII? Do we forget what lives were lost for what we have today? A bullet 3 inches up on grandads Harley in WWII and I would never have been thought of.
There is no easy answer but that can't stop us from looking. Peace to All. blah blah blah
well theres a lont time Bush should have been out of office i do support our troops wherever they are and i pray for their safe and timely return and its funny that when you speak to people no one voted for Bush but htere he is in office

I would wager 30% is kind, very kind for his approval rating. I would also imagine that 30% firmly resides to the Christian Right Wing. His approval rating with me is 0%. I love my country, I do not support the opinions and tactics of my president.
thank gawd ya told me, or I'd have never known! =o0
lol So many have media ideas on "americans..." Does noone actually listen to what we say or think, or just go for the news channel, and other media. Media is purpose driven. Will be always now...jeez.
BTW, we think with our hearts as well as brains :o)
Yea, they like to pretend they didn't jump on the bush wagon. I give the people that I know voted for him a hard time, most will admit that it was a bad choice in retrospect. During the election a few tried to get me change my mind and vote for him....Ah no, I went with Nader btw, not that I much liked him, but I would really like to see a viable third party,or a fourth for that matter. the whole system needs a bit of a shake up if you ask me. I think it was Jefferson who said that in order for a democracy to remain healthy, it should undergo a revolution every twenty-five years or so. With that in mind, we're just a tad overdue. We need at least to break the strangle hold of the two party system.
