several years ago a guy from the town I used to live in was in the Colorado Rockies and he came upon a griss and he tried to get a little closer to take the bears picture as he was a photographer. He didn't know that the griss had a cub nearby. The griss tore him to shreds and killed him.
Did I hear somebody talking about grizzlies? I cant count on my fingers and toes the times I've been face to face with bears, though I've never felt threatened by grizzlies I've had many close calls with black bears in which I felt I was in danger. The thing is when you find your self confronted by a bear, remember you are in there domain and they are the ones that feel threatened. If you find yourself in that perdicament just back away slowly nd hope youre not between a mother and her cubs and if you are, find religion and fast

I ran into a brown bear once when I lived in Alaska. It was very scary and to this day I can still see that beastie in my mind's eye. I never did walk down that trail again alone.
A Polar bear once shredded a woman here in the Central Park Zoo. The bear refused to let go of her and killed her. The bear ended up getting shot and killed. Can you imagine the look on all the children’s faces that witnessed that?

Hi Gilly!
Aren't you a sweetheart??
Luckily, the bear was as frightened as I was and turned tail and ran away. I was pretty lucky because the story could have ended badly. If I had been following all the wilderness survival rules, I wouldn't have been alone, at dusk, without a gun, and walking quietly along the river's edge during the first salmon run of the season. Really not too smart!
I've been stalked by a grizzly while hunting when I lived in the Rockies as well as a cougar. Not a comforting feeling to come across giant paw prints over top of your own footprints in the snow. Not nearly as worried about grizzlies as black bears though. I've been chased by black bears twice when I was younger. That's terrifying to say the least. You just have to be aware of your surroundings when you're out in the bush here in Canada.
