hey hugs n kisses have you seen richard pryors sketch on snakes in the woods when he does the way black people walk in the woods that never gets bitten by a snake ..and the way white people walk in the woods that always gets bitten by a snake ?
Not afraid of snakes. They had this place called "Snakes Alive" at the State Fair. Held a 8' long, 30lb boa, aptly named my name, lol. My mom claims I threw a garden snake on her lap when I was really little. I don't recall that.
I dunno, they just don't bother me at all. Spiders, yes. Sharks, yes. Snakes, no.
Besides, remember Steve Irwin (R.I.P. Steve), he picked up snakes all day long and showed you not to be afraid of them.
i guess you never heard. you see white people geneticly engenered(sp?) snakes as part of THE CONSPIRACY to empower the man and its all financed by the animal planet channel. its now in our dna to not be scared of snakes
I go fishing all the time and come upon snakes. They don't bother me. I was standing 2 feet from one while she was giving birth. They won't bother you if you don't bother them.
Ummmm... scared to death of them. Never have been but almost been bitten by two rattlesnakes and a copperhead. I kicked the one rattlesnake while hiking on a moonlit night with no flashlight. It was kinda cool that night so luckily he ended up down the small gap I was hopping over when I kicked him before he got all pissed and started rattling. Nothing against snakes... I have even held a few. Not without a litle fear in my gut. Just too many close calls to like them thats all.

~~~Hi Gilly,
Rattlesnakes are common where I live, but I've seen plenty of white people almost wet themselves when they come upon one
I've had several occasions with rattlers, pulling weeds in the flowerbed and felt something course against my fingertips...yup a rattler. One bite my dog so I got a shovel and taught that snake a lesson. Oh, and the one that tried to come in my front door when I opened it (I didn't let him in).
I've had one incident with a rattler....and a baby one at that!! I was about 18 & had come out to the garage & there it was. Grabbed a push broom, pressed the button for the garage door opener and started sweeping the snake out of the garage, down the street, and to the canyon (basically our back yard). Here at my house I've come across garter snakes while I've been doing yardwork. They don't bother me at all, just pick em up and move em to where I'm not working. Now my mom....that's a different story... She is scared to death of snakes. I'm amazed I'm her daughter....lol
Absolutely terrified of snakes. I do a lot of hiking and spend a lot of time outdoors in the unpopulated parts of the countryside. And I'm about as white as they come. I come upon them way too often and I hate it.
By the way, my favorite hiking partner is a 6'4" ,235 lb black man. When we come upon a snake of any kind he squeals and hollars like my grand daughter and runs the other way. It's always an effort to get him back on track. Where did the idea that black people aren't afraid of snakes come from?
i used to have a corn snake, his previous owners didnt want him anymore cos he outgrew his vivarium.....and he was lovely, really friendly and tame altho i got bit a couple of times when he first came to live with us
