1. He called everyone "brother". 2. He liked Gospel. 3. He couldn't get a fair trial.
*equally good that Jesus was Jewish:
1. He went into His Father's business. 2. He lived at home until he was 33. 3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his mother was sure he was God.
* good arguments that Jesus was Italian:
1. He talked with his hands. 2. He had wine with every meal. 3. He used olive oil.
* good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:
1. He never cut his hair. 2. He walked around barefoot all the time. 3. He started a new religion.
*good arguments that Jesus was Irish:
1. He never got married. 2. He was always telling stories. 3. He loved green pastures.
*However, the most compelling evidence of all are 3 proofs that Jesus was a woman:
1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was no food. 2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it. 3. And even when he was dead, He had to get up because there was more work to do.
I believe he was the son of god.. and I also believe that he was sent to 'save us' he was sent to save us from ourselves... i.e. the dark side of human nature.. I believe he did this through example in the compassion and love and forgiveness that he showed to all, including those who in society were frowned upon... I know this isn't everyones point of view, but I firmly believe this and have a lot of admiration for the guy
Interesting use of words, Aries. I might have used the exact same ones myself . . .
Yes, people are all waiting to be saved and always have. The one difference between them and me, is that while I am waiting . . . I have decided to look.
The fundamental thing to understand is that a true following of Christ's entire teaching is only possible upon denial of the will to live . . . which is in complete conflict with the instincts, which are all, as it were, 'wille zum leben'.
I have decided to look for an answer to our salvation in the 'meantime', is what I mean. As apposed to living as submissive a life as possible while waiting to be saved.
Who is Jesus? Who was Jesus? Some hold it that he was and is the way, the truth and the life.
I believe he is the biggest thing that has ever stood IN THE WAY of the TRUTH . . . and the life.
And so, I am not waiting around to be saved by some man who is going to fly down from the sky in everything but a blue-suit and a red-cape and save us . . .
That is for lesser mortals.
We are going to have to save ourselves. And I hate waiting. Waiting implies expectation and I’m too impatient for that implication.
Good things come to those who wait? It is more likely to be the inverse. And good things come to those who do NOT wait for them.
Ah, that good old ‘soul-notion’ taken as a given by all of mankind since time immemorial . . .
Even Socrates was corrupted by it. And Plato by Socrates.
I do not have a soul, I AM a soul. I am not afraid that I do not survive my physical death, indeed I find the notion absurd and would not even want to.
If there is a life after this one that is utterly inconsequential to me. All that matters to me is THIS world and I have endeavored to keep my eyes solely upon it.
If there is an afterlife, my only single worry is where . . . and what am I supposed to wear it?
Jesus was the son of GOD.. GOD is what its all about....I cant believe I am saying this but I had a deeply spiritual experiance when I was 7.. Long story, but basically I lived in the country, my parents had gone out for the night and the neighbours were the designated drivers.. my mum gave me her car keys to make me feel important because I was upset that she was going out... I held them close the whole night.. cause they were 'mammy's' and I took my role very seriously.... later on (my babysitter was clearly incompetent) we were playing 'horsy' with the sofa cousins in the field behind our house.. I lost the keys and It caused havoc the whole street were trailing through the field and my parents were very annoyed.. I was devastated at how much havoc I had caused and ran down the road in my pyjamas to a field down the road.. while I lay on the grass and staring at the sky i was crying and was saying 'sorry' to god (for all the havoc I caused)....and I swear I got this feeling through me at the time which was amazing.. like a fire.. like pure love in my chest.. it was utterly bizarre... cant explain it.. I chose to think of it as god or the holy spirit or something like that.. I know u r all going to think of me as a freak now.. but there goes..I said it ....:hugs:
Yes I know... I would NOT have divulged that if I was not half cut.. I have gone through at least 3/4 bottl of wine at this stage... cant handle wine.. I am soooo going to regret this in the morning
I believe in God as well . . . a God of roses and a God of thorns.
Thank you for sharing that with us and I do not think you a freak for doing so. AND . . . I believe you 100%. I have heard many things that make even we great skeptics wonder.
