ack ,,, I am so rather disturbed by the continual repition of remakes, sampling and rereleases. sure we have the technology to make a sound better or a movie more exciting , but i've awlready saw or herd it , give me somthing new. the song "shake a tail fether" has been rereleased 14 times .....its like the kliediscopes in the book "1984". What has happened to creativity? Someone recently said to me that all the idears have been used allready,,,,,, that poor sole. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a remake is judged by the original , if the original is good then the remake has to be extremly better, or i'd rather the original.

That is so true...creativity is dead.

Is it me or are most movies made today either a remake or a rip off of something already done? And the music industry is almost as bad.

There are exceptions, but I hope the writers' strike continues until all the writers get a clue...

A lot of the old movies..

especially sci fi..

relied on a story line..

Now a days with better technology..

the visuals may be better......

but usually at a cost of the original script....mumbling

The only song that was remade and was given justice was "Smokin in the boys room". Motley Crue did that remake right.

ya, motley crue did a good version of smoking in the boys room ,,,but like other remakes i could not tell you who the original artist was. sadly i herd a song that i loved a couple of years ago "killing me softly" sung by the fugies, it sounded familiar but i thought it was their original song and i respected them for it, but it was a borrowed/stolen song, then the respect left. The album may give them credit in small print in the credits. though usualy the record companys buy the copyrights and do not share the credit or profit from a rerelease. a local dj had an interview with the writer/singer of "afternoon delight" recently and she said that she got a one time check of 50000 that she had to share with the band and never got anything more from the song.
likely the reason for repeats ,they own the rights and it suceded at onetime.

Brownsville Station did Smokin in the boys room. I can hear the lady singing killing me softly but can't put a name to it.

It's rare that I like a remake better than (or even close to as well as) the original. I have YET to if they feel the urge to use the word "cover" in the description

Venus (Shocking Blue, Bananarama)
Woodstock (CSN&Y, Matthew's Southern Comfort)
You Can't Hurry Love (Supremes, Phil Collins)

These are three that I can think of right off that were done by more than one artist that I like both versions.
