inverphil: Who with there roots could say could say they are true USA citizens.
A persons roots should not matter.... the soil which they choose to nuture them should be thier claim.
My background comes from Europe (italy) and America (cherokee Indian)
But i was Born in America As an American...
Not an indian American,Italian American... or any other politically correct term...
I was Born As an American... i donot remeber on my birth certificate it saying i was transferred from somewhere else.
I think Double country name are B.S. i believe if i choose to say I'am Italian then i should move to Italy not expect any different treatment just because of it.

Has been stated on this Site once before: "He who serves two masters must lie to one of them."
I wonder every time when I read those Doublenames.
The US of A is unlike any other Countries,it didn't just came to be,It was Created. More so than any Countries here in Europe.
well i was born in the USA on American soil...so I am "true American", my blood line is a mixture if Irish, German, and Czech..guess I'm just another ingredient of the awesome melting pot of America...I'm very proud of my American soil as I am of my blood line...just makes me, me.

so im assuming as you said tribe..in order to be a "true" American, I have to be 100% Indian..correct? hmmmm...then I wonder if Germany, Ireland, or The Czech Republic would claim me...well cuss..I'm not a 100% of any of those either...so then I am a "true" nobody...LOL..

You where born there you are not a member off any tribe you are your roots such is your laughs.
1. Even the "American Indians" came from somewhere else originally. America has no "truly native" people in the sense that you are alluding to. 2. In the 1800's, a "native American" was considered to be any white male born on this continent. 3. It's my belief that Theodore Roosevelt put it best when he said:
(Addressing the Knights of Columbus in New York City - October 12, 1915)
"There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all.
This is just as true of the man who puts "native" before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance.
But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born, he is just as good an American as any one else.
The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English- Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian- Americans, or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality than with the other citizens of the American Republic.
The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American."

Ayn Rand called that "Hyphenation" the "Balkanization" of America. America (the US of A) was built on Individual Rights, not on Tribalism. The First and probably the Only Country in the World to do so..
