I have pleasantly suprised at how nice the people are here as well! Who would have thought that I would be annoyed that I might be losing contact with people I cared about whne my net went down, how could I care I have never met them in person?

It perhaps is the great pointer that relationships formed over the net aren't bogus...this is something I have been struggling with. Up until now I always thought of the net as a tool to help you meet in person, but then if you are honest when typing it is a person....I think.:)

Relationships over the net can be very real. Sometimes I see there is little difference than meeting them in person. Some last and some fade away just like out in the world. Even if oceans divide we can still get to know someone and have a real friendship. Chances are if you have been chatting and communicating in other ways for a while and get along you will get along good in person too.

Sometimes I think meeting on the net can be MORE real, because it may feel safer to people emotionally... less risk at first than meeting in person, puts you on the spot less. You can communicate at your own pace, have time to put your thoughts together, etc.
