Well I kow very well whats right and whats wrong-but something which might be wrong for me could be right for you and the opposite.

Even there are cases where truth and lie is relative-what seems to me the truth might seem to you a lie. Especially when I read you example-I may not see the uglyness of a person because she might have a golden heart, so she is beautifull to me. You might see only her face and she is ugly for you. Truth might not allways be the same for everybody. So truth is not really absolute or lets say its absolute for each person seperate and not the same for everybody .
Still I am glad you are not a Saint-I am afraid of Saints!bouquet hug
antcus: Somebody made of straw is an expression meaning a person who has no sense of right or wrong.

I can understand why some lies are pleasant to hear. For example telling an ugly woman that she is beautiful. That is what she loves to hear. But it is only deception.
As for me being a saint, forget it, I am no saint. What I mean is that if something is true, I say so. This is the same as saying something is white or black. What I don't do is call something white when it is black, just because my audience prefers to hear me say that. I am no man of straw!! There is only one truth, and this is not subjective to the teller. It is absolute.

FlowerOfTheSnow: And by the way colour blind people do NOT have "an absolute truth" about colours ... so again we go back to perception ... What you see as red they see as green ...

Ok I get it. You are "PIRANDELLIAN " people...an adjective from Pirandello, the Italian playwright who wrote the story "Cosi' e' se vi pare. Translated it would read. It is like that if you see it like that, in a very literal translation from the Italian.

While agreeing that this might be the case in politics, in fact one adheres to a political party because one believes it is the right party for him/her, I do not see it applicable in many other circumstances.
What Donau said about seeing an ugly person beautiful because she has a pleasant character or is a kind soul, makes no sense, because if we are talking about her external appearance then we have to agree that she is ugly. And then we can also agree that she is a very sociable person. But we cannot compensate for various things by equating them.

As regards to your argument FOS, about blind people, for a blind person green is still green and red is still red. Too bad the blind person cannot see them. But the fact that he cannot see it does not change the colour in its substance. So our concept of things can vary, but they remain basically what they are.

All this however is a deviation from the main thread "the art of female lies". Women lie because they don't want the truth to be known. It is very inconvenient most of the time that their partners know things from their past. Which incidentally hurts me more for being told a lie, than the truth, no matter how bad it is. In the extreme case where it is so grevious, then I would prefer to have the option to be told and have the last word about hanging on or leaving. But to be told a lie is the equivalent of being betrayed. After all what is the difference??
