Something struck me while looking through the threads this morning and that was that quite a few of them beg this question, if we don’t have a clear or at least a vague understanding of who and what we are, isn’t it hard to know how to relate to one another and to the hard questions in life. We may have different religions and cultures, but perhaps a global discussion on who we essentially are, may highlight the similarities that are inherent in our species and give us a greater sense of unity.

Imagine the whole world as a single person. This person has inside many different living organisms or cells (like a normal human being). Then Imagine that these different cells do stuff to this PERSON (e.g. White blood cells defend this PERSON from other bad cells, etc..)

Basically Humans are like these cells; we are here for one purpose, and this planet is our home. We all have to do ONE thing and it's as natural as having babies!

Hoots, like me you think too much. Amazingly I have often thought like this, that we are all one person.

Now then, this ONE thing which we all have to do,wanna spell it out?

Well, I think that having babies is no longer "natural". Hardly any female gives birth these days naturally ..... its all painless, and sometimes even the conception is not natural - ie. IVF, AI, Test Tube, fertility drugs, etc.

Besides which, only one half of the population gives birth to the species. The only natural thing we All do is to Breathe?

To be Human seems to encompass such things as to be Greedy, Cruel, Lie, Cheat, Steal, Kill, Maim, Get Drunk, Cause Mayhem, Make War, Invent Killing Machines, Destroy Everything, Pollute Nature, Lust after other peoples land, people, and their natural resources.

Of course the other side of being Human is to deny all those things. We not guilty, other people are.cheers dancing confused

To be human is to realise to our despair that we are limited in everything that we do. Even our brain power is limited. We are bound to conceive the unlimited, like the infinite, in terms of the finite. When the finite cannot be applied to our thoughts, then we say that it is infinite.
Our aspirations are always for what we don't have. Omniscience, omnivolence and omnipotence.
While we yearn for these, we live in the misery of our fate, each one to his own fate, each one to his luck! And like that we are all fuc**ed!
