Do we control our own destiny?
Helllooo
Yes I think we do, well .. apart from the things that occur in life naturally or unexpectedly.. sometimes good sometimes bad.. those can obviously change then direction we were planning.
But other than that.. yeah I think we control the direction our lives take.
bertyboy28: we may think we do but how much of our future is actually laid out for us and do we make choices or is it already decided what we will do!!

Hang on a sec, I was busy with destiny duty.
Oh yes, where were we?
Ah the question, chicken or egg? Post a Chicken Noodle Soup thread or not?
Was Sherlock Holmes actually the Lochness Monster? I have asked the question a hundred times on here, but no one takes me seriously.

I think we TRY to control our destiny, but that at the end of the day our lives are all mapped out for us.

I think some of it is innate...some is environmental and sometimes things just happen (good or bad). Poor decisions will always get you in trouble though.

I think we have a degree of control over our destinies..
for instance , as an example
if you look at your gas gauge and its on E and you choose to not stop and fill the tank ..then you run out of gas.. this would obviously not have happened had you filled up so the end result your stuck in the middle of nowhere ....This could have been altered...so like I say to a degree....
there are choices that one can make that can alter the outcome of destiny...
certainly not as simple a thing as I have stated above.....but food for thought maybe...

If we could control our destiny or even our actions in the way cheap rationalism thinks we can, then the disruption in human life -and even at the personal level- would be pure insanity done purposely.
We go on a track with crossroads, and we do not even know if we have to take them as something planned by a master thing or by will. Many times the crossroads are not even something we take by chance or rational plan but something we take as part of a huge "planned" challenge that puts us to the limit of our own being: we can fall deeper into our own karmatic cage or get a little bit out of it. That is the opportunity that those big challenges bring to us. The mocking of the great creator with a sick sense of humour.
In the end it all comes down to the fact that our existence does not have any purpose but to follow a trace previously determined for us long before we came here. I firmly believe so.
