slim1977: very good post. I have in my life questioned the whole pain and suffering thing. in particuler my case I use to always ask why me? now I dont mean to offend anyone with this
read the beginning of the book of JOB. it is a way of testing you and your resolve and comitment. GOD the higher power or what ever you decide to call it hoes not give anyone more than they can handle in life it is just how they decide to take it it will eather make you a strongr better person or beak you. its your choice.

History will certainly show that he is capable of wrath... yes... but then even the best most loving parent is capable of discipline, and this discipline if exercised in context can in fact be a good thing, as the 'lesson' to be learned might justify the seemingly harsh measure.. it is difficult to think in these terms nowadays, and the analogy isn't perfect, because discipline is practically frowned upon.. certainly corporal punishment, but the bible has to be read, and Gods actions considered in the context of the time..
Anyhow kinda know where you are going with this Patrick.. its cool I know you are athiest.. I can never convince you to be otherwise, as you will never convince me to abandon my faith..
The way I see it.. ok.. worst case senario... I turn out to be wrong (which because of my faith I doubt it
).. what has been the cost of my faith... internal peace of mind.. and impulse to try and be a better person, and do unto others etc (to the best of my ability).. not really a large price to pay in my book.. On the other hand I could still do all these things and fall short of what is required of me by God by not accepting him (if he does turn out to be real and the bible is correct).. what COULD be the potential cost of that?.. I really don't know but I would just prefer to follow my heart and instincts and go with what I believe is the thruth..
