Can't say I'm a fan. I find him to be too much the state the obvious type and treat it like it's a big revalation. I guess some people just need the truth stated to them to admit it, but I find it quite irritating.

You'll find many of the "Self Help Gurus" borrow material from each other (especially from early gurus like Jung).

I think I've seen three Dr. Phil episodes. I can't name any episodes though.

I'm a fan of David Richo and Thich Nhat Hanh.

I'm not a fan of either him or Oprah. I have nothing against either of them personally, but so much of their crap is based on stereotypical myths and assumptions. What they say might have some value for the masses as a whole, but the idea that this gives them any insight into specific personal relationships I find absurd.

I haven't watch either of their shows very often, the few times that I did watch convinced me that I didn’t want to waste anymore time listening to their ideas.

I only mentioned Oprah because she basically made Dr. Phil what he is today as far as being a celebrity is concerned. I don’t think anyone would have ever heard of Dr. Phil if Oprah hadn't "created" him as a TV persona.

Their shows my be useful for stereotypical people, but I don't think they have much to offer people who are beyond the stereotypical. Like Kenton mentioned, much of what they say is common sense to anyone who has any. So the people they are helping are pretty helpless people to begin with IMHO.

That's my thoughts on Dr. Phil and Oprah. They are good for the masses, but probably clueless when it comes to people who already have common sense yet might have some deeper genuine problems.

I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee Dr.Phil.

The shows I love the most from him is when he confronts cheating spouses. I love how he just rips right into them and has no pity for them!!

Tracy :o)

Well honestly though. Some people on the show did deserve to be yelled at and made feel lower than scum. Especialy those who cheated and hurted others. Heck you want to disrespect and hurt someone then you deserve a taste of your own medicine in my opinion.

Do you think it was for real???
Beeing treated like this on national TV... I would sue this SOB devil unleass he already paid me upfront.
C'mon look deeper than what seems right or wrong and you'll see that nobody can change someone else.
Yes he might put up a nice show, but I prefer other types of shows that are label as one.

And the ratings in North America are telling the advertisers this is the show to buy space on?
