I have first hand knowledge of prejudice. I was born in Quebec, Canada, of French Canadian parents. When I was growing up, the province was run by white, Anglo-Saxon, Protestants, who treated French Canadians as 3rd class citizens. There are still people in my country who dislike me for my heritage. It hurts at times, but keep on keeping on.

Sorry about that...it is a big country though, and while it's a definite problem everywhere, attitudes do differ from area to area, big cities to small towns....it's no wonder we can't get along here; people that live in small little towns cannot understand (and are afraid, a lot of them) of big city life; and us in the big city cannot understand how some people could live such a sheltered life...the secret is just to live & let live, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to work too well in many cases. But, if you're a minority of just about any kind, chances are you would do better in a big city....hope things get better for you.

I have been fortunate enough to have lived in a few different countries, the US, the UK, The Indian SUb Continent and of course Australia! My time in the USA showed me that Americans can be very naive about the rest of the world. In Australia we learnt World History, in America i was taught American History in High School. The horror that happens in the USA shows that their is such a huge divide between citizens. I think Americans, of all class, race, creed, should be encoraged to read world newspapers, watch world news,travel abroad if money allows (Perhaps they could follow the UK 'Gap' year model and broaded the horizons of youn Americans). Then maybe we won't have horrible greed and conflict like we have in the Middle east currently. I am not saying we are Perfect, far from it. The Australian Government has followed along quite quickly with that conflict, but every friend i have has travelled overseas, has friends of different race and tollerance to others.... there has to be a better way.. we must be all able to live harmoniously
