pingme: Italy?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!??? staying in Italy for a few weeks on holiday it's bearable but living here for a life?? God saves us!!!! Scandinavian Countries and Germany are good places and having a summer house in Smeralda coast in Sardinia...

Oh thank goodness someone else feels the same as I do about Italia!laugh I visited there, and could not wait to get away again!

My first impression, at the airport ... was the curtesy bus driver, wearing a Tshirt emblazoned with "FEAR is in the eye of the beholder!" and proceeded to throw all the passengers around inside the bus jerking from side to side. Then inside the airport you gotta pay a euro to get a luggage trolley! Then the bus to get to the city is driven by Mr Universe who spends more time looking at himself in the rearview mirror, stops the bus in the middle of the road to threaten a Japanese tourist talking too much and too loudly on his mobile phone...... Then at the train station, you dont get to see which platform your train is departing from until 2 mins before it arrives/departs .... and then there`s hundreds of people scrambling to get their ticket punched before boarding the train ..... and the train has Flapping Curtains blowing in the wind cause there`s no air-con on the train!

And the other thing with their trains is that when you Can find a platform number for your train, and you standing waiting with your suitcase - the PA system announces, one minute before the train arrives, that its arriving on Another platform! and you gotta brace yourself for the stampede down the stairs and up the other stairs!

Then .... at the beaches .... there is absolutely no beach to be seen because of the hordes of humanity covering every sand particle, and you got about half a metre of dirty sand on the waterline to walk in, if you can evade all the african hawkers set up along the coastline! and there`s miles of miles of pink/purple/glittering plastic beach entertainment stuff, and there`s NO parking anywhere in the vicinity of the beaches.

And everywhere I went I got so tired of the cinque cinque talk and being treated like an alien from outer space because I speak English ... that Foreign tongue!... unheard of not to speak Italian!... how do those people travel anywhere else out of Italy?

The One interesting item I did find was their Polizei ... they all seem to be chosen for their debonaire good looks, and how well their uniforms fit them? ... And they did respond extremely quickly to a phone call because a paraplegic in a motorised wheel-chair could not move around an illegally parked vehicle on the sidewalk - they simply came and towed the vehicle away, within minutes!

Really interesting question for me too. Most of my favorite things is to travel and have been in a lot of countries.
But my favorite country was and stayed Australia.Ofcourse,I saw not all country, but that towns where I was-Sydney,Canberra,lot of small towns,Blue Mountains,Snow river ,Snow Mountain....All this with their nature scents and colours, wonderful people, very interesting art of aborigines, culture, history took my heart forever. And when after 1,5 month I needed to leave and back home to Lithuania,to our cold, dark winter time.....believe me,I was cryingcrying
Second country is Greece.I love that country with her white architecture old style, culture, interesting history, legends.Wonderful nature, cheerful, goodhearted people, tasty food, songs and dancies all through the night...Beaches and warm sea, especially in Crete.hug teddybear

Okay, to be fair .... the one thing I did enjoy in Italy, even if I did go to the "wrong" part ... was riding a bicycle there. What an experience! Everyone drives so fast and there never seemed to be any accidents.......... I must say I do proclaim the Italians as very efficient drivers! Riding my bike down little cobbled alleyway, terrified of cross traffic at the little intersections I found the car drivers more cautious than me. And riding a bike down a road with FIVE lanes for cars and trucks I lost my nerve to move to the far lane ...... and all the trucks and cars slowed down behind and motioned me to move over!!!!!

Could be they more terrified of their Polizei? and the resultant trauma should an accident happen?!

Italy is a curious country. The best and the worst of human nature resides here. Spain is fantastic!! Wanna have fun - nowhere better. Viva la marcha!! Germany is great - love the people. Belgium is a fantastic mixture of people who all hate each otherrolling on the floor laughing The north of England - well, you can take the man out the north, but you canie take the north outta the man.dancing
