What's your favorite country and why? I love pretty much all of the Mediterranean region, but Italy is my favorite--the people, the food, the art, the wine, the landscape....

I went to Zagreb a few weeks ago and like it. Been hearing a lot about the Croatian coast and hope to go this summer. Sounds lovely...but where I would like to live ...that's Italy.

One of the best things about Germany is the beer, I agree, but the food? Much prefer the Mediterranean diet. German people-- "comme ci, comme ça" I actually like the French better laugh but some of my best friends are Germanbeer

Interesting question. Hm - there are so many, all in different ways;

Sweden: in the summertime especially - the closeness to nature everywhere, the cleanliness, the light, the water, the seclusion.

England: because you have everything there - 24 hours/day if you so wish; culture, history, friendly people and atmosphere, the great sense of humour, the tenacity of the people.

the US: now this is a bit different - every state is almost like a country in itself (so I only have experience of a few of them) - love (northern) California; the sunshine!! The absence of cold, harsh, dark winters. You can go swimming in the ocean in the morning, and then drive to the mountains for some afternoon skiing! The relaxed, open-minded attitude of the people. The beauty of the hills, cliffs and water. The independence, respect for integrity and endless possibilities.

And I have to say a few words about my host country, of course: Belgium is full of little secrets - there is so much more to this little country than first meets the eye (because they are so humble they don't advertise everything they have); culture, history, nature (beaches, forests, mountains) and of course the food! The home of world famous "French" fries (this American term is said to stem from American soldiers posted in Belgian Flanders during the first world war, who were given this Belgian delicacy, but mistakenly thought it was French), mussels, chocolate, beer... yum.

I have travelled to many countries but I like European countries the most.

In all my travels thus far I like Spain the most, I go as often as I can at least twice a year! I find it very fascinating. The food is wonderful, the people are friendly and the country is steeped in culture and history.

A country that I visited last year for the first time was Poland. It was very different to what I expected for example in a lot of towns the infrastructure is just starting to be redeveloped. However, despite the slow road to progress the Polish people are very optimisitc and are equally very friendly. Again the food is wonderful as are their beers.

I can't single out any particular country yet as there are many countries that I have not travelled to yet. I will say though that I prefer the old world to the new world.

Cant realy say which is my favourite country, only visited a few..... But now Switzerland has spoilt me for any other country, as far as reliability is concerned, and cleanliness, orderliness, an efficient functioning governance, properly trained and efficient services personnel. These things never used to bother me cause I sort of lived down at the bottom of the heap, being self-reliant on a farm in SA... But having to emerge out into commercial society, these are the things that one has to deal with daily, so to have them done effectively cuts down on dithering around wasting time and getting stressed... for me anyway.

Thanks, nice to be back. Had one-hellofa-party here on Sat - lasted 11 hours! Major cleaning up to do before the neighbors all woke up this morning .... to try and restore our good reputation! Beer bottles all over the garden... and other debris from a major celebration of my Dart Throwing prowess!cheers
