I just went to the kitchen to look for a recipe. I realized I must have 50 cookbooks that I haven't been opened in years!! Including my beloved George Forman Grill...cookbook. So I am wondering, how many of you have cookbooks you never use?? Or do ANY of you really use a cookbook at all??bouquet

I would love to have them! I collect cook books and hope someday to have as extensive collection as my sister does. I use cookbooks to get ideas, not necessarily to use to cook a particular item. I am known for using part of one recipe with part of another to make something new and inventive (like on Iron Chef). Cook on!!!!

A lot of my cookbooks are the type that churches and other social organizations put together to raise money.

Some of the recipes are like...Sally's onion soup or betty's mock apple pie.

Always simple "homey" type recipes!

I learned to make a mock strawberry preserves, using figs!! Yummy!!

For the most part I don't follow a set recipe, no. I have recipe books as a back-up for something I don't do often but I have so many I probably wouldn't get through them all anyway.

Especially for you, Ship:
I gotta George Foreman Grill, I gotta George Foreman Grill, if you won't cook my dinner, George Foreman will......

You are right, I do have cookbooks that I don't use anymore. I do have a favourite which I tend to use a lot... The Naked Chef by Jamie Oliver.
