I've lived without it before, and running water, heat and all the modern conveniences we take for granted.

We had a bad ice storm several years ago. Lights were out for about 8 days. Our neighbor was having a fit trying to buy ice for his freezer to keep all cold. He was at the end of his rope when we told him that the damn trees were full of ice. So we put out a tarp and beat the trees. He felt silly.

Yup! our freezer was in a out building so it stayed frozen. We made a wire box to hang out the window from an a/c case and used towels as the door. That was the fridge for a while.

I even made an oven with a parraffin tin and some wire once and baked cakes in it.
Surprising what we could do if we had to. Actually that would make a good thread. What survival skills do we have? I bet there'd be a few laughs in there..........
