I have been on this site for a while, but not reading the blog. So I was thinking, that why not to write here what has been on my mind.
I want to move to Spain. I think its good place to live. Its not wery expencive and weather is good for me.
But the thing is, that I have two kids too and think, that I want to do it alone with my kids. It is not easy to find a man, who would take me with my kids openhanded and thats all. So I want to try myself first and maybe I will find one day man from there.
I know, that It will be wery hard at beginning to work and take care of my kids, but from somewhere I must begin.
If you can give me any good advice, then I will be happy to hear them :)

Chriselle

Forgive me, moving to Spain sounds like a great idea, relocating is something that many people, including I do successfully, with or without children.

I think it is a good idea that you go, research the schools, prepare the children well, take them for a visit sp you have an idea where and what the local area is like.

It is not easy, but it is and can be a joyful experience, my children and I have lived in three countries and the best thing we ever did, now they are older they have returned to the UK, with me splitting my time between Austria and the UK.

As for meeting a man, that could happen at any time.

The very best of luck to you.

Hi Chriselle
Welcome to the forums handshake

Spain is a lovely country with great weather. I have recently returned to live in Spain my country of birth and nationality after living abroad for many many years (since i was a baby).

Things to bear in mind ...
Life is not expensive but wages are low ... it is more difficult to find a job if one doesn't speak the language ... Although it is possible to find employment in the Summer season even with limited Spanish ... you don't mention whether you speak Spanish or not ... The non Spanish people we know living here with kids love it and the kids have integrated well into their school life applause BUT often (not always) their husband(S) have to go back abroad to earn money because jobs are difficult here (in the south).
It's near impossible to claim any form of benefit (even for Spanish people) unless one has been employed here and paid conributions ...
There's no financial help for child care or benefits to help with children ... Childminders are often family members and financial support if needed also comes from family members, so the government does not provide for that sort of thing ...

I don't mean to sound discouraging, I know all this because my daughter was looking into it for herself and her 2 kids (my grandchildren). She has since met someone (in the UK) who has "taken her with her 2 kids openhanded" (so it does happen!!!!!). They have not ruled out coming out to Spain all 4 of them together in the future ... time will tell!!! But if they do ... he will be able to continue working for the same company he works for now in UK as they have a "sister branch" here in Spain ...

Hope it all works out for you, good luck!!! hug
