Mothers should never motivate hate feelings on their children, not even to a dad that fails. Not good for the kid, it actually only fulfils the mother's ego!
Why not try to keep the fight between the parents? Why not making the kids reliase later how super mother they are because they (the kids) will sooner or later realise they've been raising ONLY by their mother. That will generate a profound admiration, greater than when you make them see that the father is failing. It's like a growing descovery each day. More romantic towards mommy and...well, that makes everything beautiful in the child's eyes.

Who said I instilled this in her? As she got older & she was able to make her own perceptions, she decided she didn't want him in her or her childrens' lives. And she calls him by his first name as well.
