When I was 10 years old, my parents took the family to an air show where I watched the Blue Angels perform. Even at 10 I was so impressed ... I remember the goose bumps it gave me when they did their fly bys.

Ever since then I have longed to attend another performance but for a multitude of reasons was never able to make it - mostly due to distance. This year the Brunswick NAS in Maine hosted the show and that is only 3 1/2 hrs from me.

Finally after 40 plus yrs I was going to actually make a performance. My son and I both adjusted our work schedules. Paid $100 for a hotel room so we could get there early and spent about another $100 on food and gas. The first part of the air show was wonderful but paled in comparison to the performance I remembered as a child.

Then after 40 yrs and 6 hours of waiting the commentator announced that the Blue Angels had been grounded due to poor weather conditions from Hurricane Hanna.

I can't remember the last time I have been so disappointed. crying moping

Sorry to hear you never got what it was you were longing for Patty, but I have a feeling that after all these years some things just wouldn't be the same.

Hope though that the journey and the time away from home and with your son was that of a good one.

But cry all you want over your spilt milk, just be sure and wipe up after yourself now you hear...laugh

Sorry to hear that they were grounded...they're still awesome. They flew at an air show we had in Redding a couple years back & had to fly over my parents house as part of their pattern. Felt like home to hear them.

Sorry about that.I did live in the surburbs of KC,and saw them perform several times at Richards Gebaur base.I saw them do the act that eventually went wrong at another place and they collided. They would come so low over my house that the windows rattled. But the base closed. They were a neat act.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment, yet for some reason, I mean really, I thought this was a pity PARTY, so enough pity now, can we party? your smile is enough reason to party, so let's be happy and celebrate the fact you spent some time with your son. that is reason to party in itself.
Yeah, I know, doesn't take much reason for a party here. banana
