When I read in a profile that this person, loves garage sales, flea markets, I get the picture. Pack-rat!
People tell me your house always looks so clean. Not really, but there is no clutter. Not a lot of stuff. I find that having a few nice things draws more attention because your not distracted by many other things.
My home is easy to take care off. Parquet floors throughout and tile. No carpets, but a small area rug in the living room. Leather furniture.

Your place sounds like mine, but I have the vinyl hardwood flooring. I am ecclectic though and when I moved to this house, I did not bring everything into the house. I have changed my decor, so I have boxes of "stuff" in the barn. I am planning on having a yard sale, as I believe that if I am not using it, I don't need it.
Pac Rat indeed! I buy things cos it's a good deal and "someone" might need it! I love to bless people and it's fun when someone says, I need ________. And I have it to give to them! I do plan on selling it all next week. The treasure hunting has been fun. I used to collect all kinds of antiques and now, I have no place to show them off, so I need to get rid of them.
Lord, give me strength to part with all of this "stuff"!!!

12 moves in my 21 year marriage. Every box unpacked and emptied the very first day. Pictures were hung the next day and all was done!
I often hear people say; oh I have boxes yet to unpack from our last move three years ago. Like you I would say; sell or give it away it is obvious not needed by you.
hollandgirl: Even with the many moves I have made I still had to give away things. What helps me is I do not like shopping. You won't find me often at a mall.
I don't like shopping either. I just want to get what I need and get out of the stores.
It's mainly the rude people and I get so tired of having people running their carts into me and blocking the aisles while they're busy gossiping about whomever and whatever.

Right on! You ask them to move and they do, but go right back to the same spot.
Funny, but for a gal who hates to shop I seem to accumulate a lot of stuff!
Yes, I've been a pack rat all of my life. However, after inheriting a house full of the lifetime accumulations of 3 pack rats (my late mother-in-law, father-in-law, and husband), I am ruthlessly going through all of theirs and mine. I have things going into yard sale, things I'll be selling on eBay, and things that get thrown away because they're junk and nobody will want them. It's time to clean out. I don't want to leave my sons a mess like this in the future.

Wow! I bet you've got some really neat stuff to get rid of!
Good thing you live far away for me to shop there!
When I was collecting antiques, I bought lots of nice stuff in Pa., Ohio, and Missouri.

I am the oldest of 6 kids. Very small living quarters. Size of my kitchen today. My mother was a firm believer in "needing it someday"
You were forever having to hunt for sciscors, a needle etc. As nothing stayed in its place. How often I would clean up but it did not stay that way for long First thing I got was a sewing box, when I married. I am organized, yet my home is not a museum, I live here and you can tell that I do.
My one rule? Use something, then put it back in the same place.

I'm with ya on that, Jenny! I put everything back so that I can find it again! I've become an orginization freak.
Here, I've found 3 magnifying glasses and 9 pairs of scissors so far...only keeping 2 pairs of scissors. Also, 6 bowling balls (?). I've given away a large trash can full of golf balls, and still keep finding them! Goodness knows what else I'll find...I've barely started on the garage, haven't tackled the basement storage or attic parts yet!
