BarrenPneuma: Personally as a man (and thereby disqualified from Shadow's thread), I would not want any more children. I have lost three precious infants who blot my heart like a permanent eclipse already and I do not think I could survive another loss of this calibre. If a woman already had children I would not be bothered at all and would treat them as I do all children, with kindness and the respect due any person. Of course if something were to happen to the relationship I would be badly hurt and scarred by their loss equally but they will still have both their parents whether I was there or not. There is a great difference between having a mother and father and having one and a step-other. There can be true Love but you will always Love your parents in ways that can only come through blood. Of course again there are many persons walking this Earth that never should have been parents and the children in these cases are much better off with step-others to care for them.
Even after this minor conviction I would never say never because it is not a decision that can be made by one person in good faith, and the Lord will do as he sees fit no matter how resolved I may be.
JMO (slightly confused but impregnated in my thick skull right now)

Oh my, sweetie. I'm so sorry. I can't imagine the pain. hug

I think the main reason is that women (particularly of a certain age) are afraid to confess to wanting kids for fear it would scare off potentials... this is a sad indictment on modern men I fear, because it seems to be the done thing now to take a completely non-commital attitude to such things and to advocate a playboy care free attitude.... truth is men normally thrive in such environments... one of the fellas in my church became a new daddy on Friday morning and I swear the guy just can't stop smiling... he is just over the moon!! when it actually comes down to it, most men make good dads and relish the role.. both my brothers were completely transformed for the better by parenthood...

cmon guys and girls.. its time we were honest and admitted that we need eachother.. are good for one another, should respect each other and cherish one another.. the world would be a far happier place !! JMV..

Shadow_lover: Why do women put prefer not to say when it asks if the want children? I don’t understand why it would be a secret one way or the other and hope someone can explain this to me.
Oh and so I don't forget, thanks in advance for the imput.

Just checked my profile & what I have is "no, but yours are welcome".

I picked that basically because mine are grown & gone & I really don't want to go through another pregnancy. In fact, that factory has been closed down.

Knowing that I'm also looking for someone younger than I am, the baby issue may come up....but as long as he doesn't have to absolutely be a biological father....we can adopt.

My profile says i have no children, but i do, just the one.

The story is long complicated and depresses the living daylights out of me, to the point i have a hard time looking at people with children having fun.

I have a hard time seeing children the same age of my son.

I basically have enough trouble coping day to day to day trying not to do anything that will get me into trouble.

I have trouble functioning as a normal member of society is what i am trying to say, and to prevent me seeing i cannot predict to upset me any further than i already am i have even taken to ensuring the television isnt capable of receiving a broadcast signal.

It could be women, or at least some of them are also trying to avoid the story to avoid telling complete strangers their life story and possibly getting upset?

I can understand where you're coming from. There's this one boy at the school I work at that at certain times...through his actions, or a phrase he says, or just the way he sounds....reminds me sooooo much of my younger son. There's been a couple of times I've had to walk out of the office because I was about to lose it in front of him.
