hollandgirl: While in Main I complained to the waiter that all the lobsters I had eaten where soo small. He said ma'm we have a 3 lb lobster if you want it. Did I? So the next thing is seeing two men bringing this three pound lobster on a plank. Making a big deal of it. Of course they drew the attention from everyone. They also looked very surprised it went to me and not my husband. Yep I ate the whole thing.
Oh...I could easily eat a 3lb lobster! I miss home...

lanabyte: Ooh lots of things. My grandma made the best soup beans and cornbread. And my mom makes a great pork chop & potato bake. Oh and also Greek spaghetti & veggie stirfry - is to die for. Speaking of Greek, gyros are awesome and Greek salad. One of my agents is from India and she makes this killer eggplant and potato dish and homemade hummus and pita bread.
But I'm just as happy with quick, simple foods, my favourite being a mayo and swiss cheese sandwich.
Almost forgot... SEITAN! It's a vegetarian wheat meat. Sounds gross but it is the BEST "meat" I've ever tasted. Looks and tastes just like real meat. Yummy!
How did I ever make it this far without having never heard a lot of the foods mentioned here.

druidess6308: taking notes on cooking tips, too....just need someone to apply them for
I spend very little time in the kitchen. I cook for ten meals at the time. So just dig in the freezer and voila!
This is a good one. Buy a cheap roast. Cut it into smaller pieces so it cooks faster. Meat done, I pull it apart, scred it, cook ten lb of onions. Mix it together. Make mashed potatoes and pour the meat and onions over it. Everyone loves it. Makes for many meals. All I need is too cook the spuds and these too I cook for several meals.

Thank you...adding that to my collection! Sounds like a good thing to do on a weekend for leftovers all week...esp on a tight budget.
mbcasey: There are a bunch of recipes in Len's (Rillyniceguy) "meat" thread last night...
ummm...I saw lots of comments about marinating and having the right juices, not charring it...making sure it's tenderized...don't remember specific recipes...
