Ahhh but to phone means you must have trust. I don't give out my phone number generally as a rule on the net. I have maybe... 3x in all the years I have been online. That's not many, and regretted it once LOL Nothing major bad happened, just wasn't a good thing. But truely bad things can happen tho too 
just need to be extreemly careful, especially if your a disabled single mom in a small town. That's 3 strikes right there against it! LOL

I agree. Chats are too fast paced. I prefer messengers and using conferences in them. Much more fun and easier to catch up lol

well, i've had bad thingshapen alot... phone is not one...well, stalkers supposedly came to my street...
but, in general, no if they can look you up in serches, phone is mild... I'm disabled, hon. but talk to folks here.

If they're going to add chat, they might as well spawn an IRCD instance to cut down on server overhead, would be insanely fast and IRC clients make multitasking a breeze.

A cat place with different forums for different reasons? Like we have the forums here, all the catagories altho frankly I never look at the catagory unless I am posting but that would help cut some of it down I'd think?

Is that kinda like ICs Professor? They would be cool to have! I went on a Yahoo chat for the first time and the spammers pissed me off,just a bunch of ads asking you to check out their sites!

Yes, IRC allows people to spawn their own channels for chatting in, you can join as many as you want, creator of the channel has rights to kick/ban users, etc. Yahoo chat is a headache, I peeked at it once for 10 minutes and that was it.

It wouldn't be too bad if we have the choice of using either the IRC program and logging in or if it's part of the webpage.
I'm not overly fond of chatrooms myself unless there is an option to create a private room. They go too fast to keep up with one conversation
