Mine keeps me connected. I could go without it but I would get lost trying to find places, and make less informed purchases (I tell you, sales people don't like it when you have access to tech specs and reviews at your fingertips)
I'm using my cell for this right now, waiting for classes to start!
I'd like to think I can go without it, but whenever I forget it somewhere I realize just how much I need it. I don't think it's a fashion icon in my case since I use it for some pretty important things, but I can see where some people do use it for that purpose alone.
I told my business partner that the day I have to carry one I quit. Cell phones are the most intrusive device made to date; I have seen more bad manners and rude behavior rooted in cell photo conversations -- I don't care if you got drunk last night, or have a new friend, or wrecked your car, and I do care how loud you speak in public places on those darned things. It's annoying. I do not wish to be available 24/7, or even 12/5. Been there done that without a cell phone. NO MORE. There is nothing in life urgent enough to be cyber-linked to the world. Sorry.
your good or service is obviously not something that can save someone's life.
But I do agree that it is annoying to be at a nice quiet dinner only to have someone chatting away loudly on a cell phone.
What is even more annoying is the guy who walk around all the time with an ear piece and you think they are talking to you and they are talking to the stooge on the other end.
I am dependent on them since I am not near a land line many minutes of the day.
It has become a freaky business:
- If I leave it behind (on purpose) I can still feel it vibrate in my pocket as if it is calling. - I check for it even though I know I don’t have it. - When I have it, I check if I have got missed calls every five minutes but I would not miss an incoming call anyway because of the buzz and vibration it makes.
I need therapy. Well, that’s not new, but I need a cell phone detox too
I do have the courtesy to leave the table and the restaurant when in a call and take it outside, in the lobby or in the street if there is none.

I think they should be prohibited while operating a motor vehicle.
I was stopped at a light when a woman made the turn onto the street I was on. She cut the turn real tight crossing the white line I had the front tire of my motorcycle on. She came within 2 feet of hitting me and she had a cellphone to her ear.
I can see having them but think there are times when they shouldn't be used

I do the same things! But if I'm on a date, I don't answer it. They can leave a message. And I don't make calls either. That's VERY RUDE!!
