Seen it here in the UK. Mildly amusing in parts but not side-splitting, no.

That is what I thought it would be like. The original Australian version is hilarious. I don't know if it is the Aussie humour that I that makes it funny or the fact they are comedians acting and not actors like the U.S version has.

Was curious to see others opinions on the show since I saw the shorts for it.

Thanks for replying cheers

Hi. I actually caught an episode of the U.S. version this evening. Not very impressed, only a couple of slightly funny scenes. It lacked pushing the boundaries. It was kept well within very safe boundaries. Pretty lame, really. Absolutely nothing like the Australian original, which is so successful at laughing at that side of Aussie life, even making a 'kind' mockery of it.

I was referring to the Aussie original, I wasn't aware that there were other versions.

The 2 ladies from Kath and Kim write the episodes and are the producers. The U.S. was very interested in the concept of their show, that because of its huge success in Australia, wanted to do an American version due to the obvious language/cultural issues. So, they struck a deal. Unfortunately, I don't think it works, what they have done in the States.

I think you really need to be an Australian to appreciate it fully. Naturally some epsiodes flag a bit, but overall, it is hilarious, because the characters they portray are there in real life Aussie suburbia.laugh

In the fine print in the credits, it clearly states, "not for scottish humour'

Nope, both are happily married.

But they just about always travel together without their husbands! I think they find it hard to let go of their alter egos!

well I'm scottish and i liked it ( the original version) I don't think these shows travel well when they change things- i have tried to watch the american version of 'the office'( one of the best shows ever!!) and just thoughtyawn Create your own show if you don't think your country will 'get' the humour of it, don't just try to copy it.

wave I'm glad. It's a great show, isn't it. And I love most comedies from the U.K.... they certainly do not suffer in translation!laugh
