My wife stopped on March 26, 2007 when she died of lung cancer from smoking. I am not here to talk to you about stopping. I watch her through the 22 months of suffering before she died. It is a horrible death for the smoker and the family around them. My son and I was holding her hand when she took her last breath. My first thought was now she is at peace. The finally two months couldn't have been worst. May none of you have a love one died from smoking and lung cancer.
Liz and I were together forty years. I will never be the same person again.

John, I am crying with you My husband did not die from lung cancer, but nevertheless it happened one step in front of me, nothing I could do. 36 years. My heart goes out to you and my prayer to our Creator is the same as for me. May we find someone we have a connection with and find love before our time on this earth is over.

Big_John: We had full time nursing around the clock and toward the end she was in hospice. She had 11 hospital visits in the last year.
Yes..it is all painful to watch, a slow dying death...They were all too young to leave us...I am sorry for your loss....I have a different outlook about hospice now, then before, and they still visit me on occasion.....
Not everyone who smokes gets lung cancer....Not everyone who gets lung cancer smoked. My sister never took a puff in her life --- yet she got it, and after a long 13 month battle, it took her life. Cancer is a mystery - they say we all carry it in our bodies -- there are just as mysterious factors which trigger it into action. Sorry to hear of the loses posted.
