well, if its just friends, no one shouldn't be considered a player.

but if a person is committed to somebody else and keeps flirting with other members, especially in private, yes, I would feel that this person can be considered a player.

I had someone I was talking to.

When the police officer asked me questions at a road check. I didn't talk. My head still hurts too.

Maybe if you are talking to more than one before an understanding is made, its ok, as long as you are honest about it. You don't want to mislead and hurt someone. But to return an email does not mean a commitment has been made. But it seems many expect that because that what they want. Be open and be honest and let them know what is going on as far as caring for them or another. Be kind and fair!

But when an understanding is reached, because of doubts in the minds of the one you are pursuing. Then remove all chances of doubts.....you friends will understand. Later when the relationship is secure then friends are not a problem.
