kitty01: Thanks everyone, just wanted to know if anyone else has a furnace that shakes the house and blows open the basement door.
If it's blowing open the basement door , I would talk to a furnce company that does repairs and talk to them about what might be wrong with it. That sounds wrong. I have had lots of noise from furnaces heating up and cooling down, but not blowing open doors.

When the bang comes the floor even shakes. Friends were over and thought maybe it was a ghost opening the doors.
It could be the sudden heat just popping the duct, because the duct is cold. ( a good example of this is when you are cooking in the oven, YOU put a thin pan in there and when it reaches a certain temp. it pops......but it could also be that there is way too much gas let out before the igniter kicks on( could be your igniter is going bad so it is slow or a leak in the gas valve or a sensor which controls either the gas or igniter...JMO
But it could like I said, just be what your landlord said... I'm not there but I would get a second opinion. Just to be on the safe side... Good luck..

This happens when the pilot lights across before the fan comes on to blow the heat up. So thinking now how can the heat be doing it when it is before that.
it's loud because it's attached to the downstairs ceiling joists which your floor rests on The sound travels throughout the duct system to amplify the sound
If it is actually opening a doop, either their is not enough makeup air, the purge isn't working or..the gas/air mix is way too rich.(can tell the later if the flame is burning all blue or all yellow) if so.. bad air mix.

still can't say without actually seeing it.
too many variables.
true, and not to make light of your situation hun, but some people are more nervous and/or high strung then others. So Some people without meaning too over exagerate things, you said BLOWS the door open, so at first I think bam!! but it could mean gently blows the door, like what a screendoor might do to the inside door if the door is not latched. which only has to do with pressure... SO I say get a second opinion then go from there...
kitty01: I have phoned the landlord and they will do nothing, says it is just the cold air, and not to worry.
Burners are in need of cleaning and also just open it up when its off and vaccum out stuff thats lying there loose. Change the filters. They are cheap.
Thermocouple is bad or going bad.(jmho not a professional) This is somewhat of a timing metering mechanism for fuel and ignition. These are cheap to replace, but costly if someone does it.$125 or so .

Check those kitty.
Thermocouple= only is a flame sensor for the pilot. if pilot is lit it allows the burner to get fuel and light, if bad or no pilot flame.. it just wont let the gas come on to the burner. saying... if the pilot won't light, or is lit but the main burner wont engage... then the thermocouple is bad.
So K, have you had it looked at yet, if so...what was the problem?

Still say either the purge motor is bad or most likely the air gas mixture is too rich, just a simple adjustment,
