Yeah, it's not pleasant to think about, but as far as I know, sharks will always be where their prey hang out, and that is in deep water....it surprises me to know that the fishing can still be good around Malta....I thought this ecosystem had been mercilessly fished out to the last prawn decades ago...

True enough but the local fishermen have to venture out farther and farther off shore to make that catch due to decreasing marine life in thew Mediterranean.

Pete, it surprises me that there is anything left alive in these waters anyway....the mediterranean has been used as a toilet since the time of the romans...if you take a look at satellite photos, you can see the extent of the pollution....this sea is a bathtub, with a bottleneck at the Gibraltar straits....there is limited circulation...a 100 years from now, this place will be one huge fish farm....imagine the pollution then!!...

Being so far off the other countries and on our own saved these islands so far.Question is with the population here increasing and new technologies moving in for how long.So let's cherish these clear waters for the time being.

Clear???....Malta still pumps raw sewage out to sea..as do most other coastal countries on the Med.....recycling has a long way to go...
