Ladies and gentlemen. After having had a discussion amongst my friends and some local yokels I decided to create this thread to nip in the butt the rumor of local people that there are no sharks in these waters.I have seen with my own eyes local fishermen unloading their catch early in the morning on several locations and times.Guess what .The biggest one I have seen was about 6 feet long. But there are plenty others in our waters. You be the judge. Please tell me what you think after you went on this link.Pete.

Malta: Sharks that have been caught near Malta shores. Sharks whose main prey is tuna will follow tuna, so a few years back, when tuna-farming was not practised, tuna migrated past the Maltese Islands every year and sharks followed. So whether it is tuna in a farm or tuna in the wild, sharks will be there. In fact, it was reported that the short fin mako was trapped in the tuna fishing lines, chasing wild tuna.

Sharks can be dangerous to humans, but from around the 390 different species that exist, only a few are a risk to us. In fact, we are more likely to be hit by lightning than to be attacked by a shark. In the US alone, 100 people die each year from bee stings, compared to two people being killed by sharks.

It would be your loss baby. There are more sharks in former Jugoslavia than ever been here in Malta.I remember Pula for example being shark infested many years ago.

So relax and come and see us here.I swim every day but stay close to shore. These islands have a lot to offer. handshake
