BarrenPneuma: Everything that is cleaned in a washing machine has been done. Not a curtain, or towel remains and all are folded neatly or put in their place. Fridge is spotless and all food is new including condiments. Just finishing stripping the cupboards to restain them. Garbage is a pet peeve of mine and is always put out immediately. When the kitchen container is half full I typically scan the house for things that need to go and then empty all other garbages throughout the house to get rid of it all.
Ironic how you mention kitchen and bathroom as these are the two rooms that sell the most houses. And women make those calls most of the time. I knew I came to the right place for advice.
Well then I think you have it made, let her have something to help you with, cause that way she can find something else left to do to the place and both of you can do that together. So no time is taken away from you both.applause applause wine

rasgumby: BP- Seriously I think you have gone way beyond!!!

leave some for her to do, that is part of how a woman makes it her home.
Seriously, better to leave some of the decision making, As everyone else has said, if she is that neat and clean- she is going to do it over anyhow.

Let the bird make her nest.

Shirley49WV: Barren you are one of a kind in my book. I wish you a long life together and may it be full of love, fun and happiness.

Thanks Shirley I just hope I measure up to what she deserves. I will never fail to give everything my best effort and of course to learn what she requires and how best to provide any part of it.
Even my exes never asked for anything without receiving it. 3:00 -50 snowstorm with fantastic winds and a 20 minute walk for an icecream to the only store open in town. Damn cravings but it is a small sacrifice for such simple pleasures. hug

BarrenPneuma: True but there will be time for all of that once we settle in. Then her mess is ours and mine will likely be mine.
We are not planning on staying too long anyway so best not to have to rush at the end.
Thanks for being the first man to post here btw I knew there were a few who would pitch in advice and of course yours is worthy, pertinent and truthful.

rolling on the floor laughing I am the same way, I keep my house extremely clean and neat, but damn, you are going so far out there, you can come clean mine anytime!!

Don't forget it also needs to smell clean, open the windows.. even once in a while on cold days to get some life back into the air.

I can only dream to find a man that loves me as much as you do her. And your concerns for her happiness.

May the house you choose together be full of life, love, happiness friend. cheers

Her favourite scents are lilac and lavender. I have purchased everything that even remorely smells like this. Even my laundry detergent is the new (in Canada at least) Gain lilac and lavender. Febreeze candles in either scent. Ironically I have lilacs in my back yard and they will find their way to the tables throughout the house once they bloom in Spring.
The scent is for me as it soothes my soul and helps me dream about her every night (for the few hours I ever sleep).
The windows is a good idea, she always has hers open no matter the weather. Well not all day long but for some part of every day at least.hug

Every time I change the bedding, I spray the sheets with mountain scent Lysol also.
I have to live in this house, so why not have it pleasant.

But I do get lax with the dusting at times.

Zalrighty, best learning is done by watching of course and listening. Big difference in hearing and listening one is mechanical and the other is intentional. Carry on. I am paying attention and learning while I do.grin hug

BarrenPneuma: My sweetheart is coming home real soon. I have been living alone for 3 years. I am not a slob but I do have some clutter (mostly books- okay its all frikken books). I know she is a clean nut so I have been giving everything the once over, then hitting it again. I took my stove apart to clean it completely. My fridge too. I always keep the bathroom clean so no problem there I am sure. As sure as any man can be at least. I have taken every piece of furniture out of each room and washed the walls and floor then cleaned each piece of furniture before putting it back in the room.
I know I am missing something here. Please give me some leads. I do not want any part of her time here to be spent cleaning anything that was here before she was. We have soooo many other more important things to do when she is here I would truly hate to waste any time doing stupid things that should already be done.
We can then get to making all the messes that are ours and working on them together.

Have you made space for her, her things etc.? You'll both need it at some point.

Wherever there is not enough room I will make room if I have to build another storey on the house.
We will have to determine this together but as this will quickly be her home as much as it has been mine i am sure we will find ways around any obstacles.
Already drafted a new plan for the upstairs and if I have time I will remvoe the walls and rebuild to accomodate her in the best way possible.hug

What an insult!

You don't have to be old to be clean. I have always been.
Just habits we decide to form.
