When I was a teenager my parents insisted I go on the pill. I had never thought of it until they brought up the subject. My Dad was the one who actually talked to me about it.

It never came up with mine. Tahnk God, five kids, two girls three boys. Nope glad it didn't. They say now they looked at me and them alone and thought no way.

I commend you for discussing it with your daughter and ex. Open and honest communication between the three of you only helps strengthen bonds you have with your child.
Moral questions aside, the health issue and the ability to build such a strong trust in one another are greatly enhanced by your openly discussing this with her. Plus by imparting your views on the moral aspect (as YOU see it) gives her more to think of in regards to the emotional aspect of the choices she makes.

Yes absolutely you did the right thing. Would you have preferred her regnant? There was another lady on here that got her 13 year old on BC. You have to do what is appropriate to prevent pregnancy and STD.

dcj22: I agree that he made the right choice. If you read my previous comments, you'll see that and that I feel comfortable that my daughter will come to me when the time is right.
Yes I would not put my child (if I had any) on BC just for the hell of it or to control acne. There would have to be something going on in her life that I felt was a cause for concern. Interest in boys etc...I would not necessarily trust a child to come to me but you know your kids the best of course.
