Diaz vs McGregor 2 (17)

What say ye about the rematch;
It seems that the game of UFC has become very commercial,
McGregor's show boating ways have no doubt had a big part to play in him becoming the front man for the sport that he is today. Did this type of commercial marketing have an effect on the hunger of the athlete.
Listening to him talk he seems to be in the zone, but has the sport become to much about money as boxing has , and when this happens it becomes rather easy for fighters to throw games and stage rematches for the purpose of making bigger bucks. Are Diaz and McGregor likely candidates to partake in this kind of game fixing, as you will see from this interview there is talk of a third match already doh

Yes I think money and power their game so superficial.

I remember a few years back it was fighting and a little banter,
now its months of this promotion stuff and a little fighting sigh
How things have changed with the elevated profile of the sport as it seems to be more mainstream wine

Seems to be a new champion all the time too, can´t these guys hang on to a belt for more than one fight?

Diaz beat him last time when he had only 11 days to prepare for it, how does McGregor think he'll take him this time round.

McGregor's main abilities are not in his fighting but rather in his self promotion.
Nate Diaz is a very good fighter but Diaz himself is far from the most ferocious guy in that lightweight division (Murderer's row as they call it), though Conor and Nate fought at 170.
Even Rapheal Dos Anjos lost his belt 2 nights ago after winning 10 of his last eleven. And that Russian guy Khabib whatever is a mass murderer too.

Conor's just a guy that's gone on an amazing tear so far, but he will be found out.. Luckily for him he's already a multi millionaire.

The Irish guy that beat him, Joe Duffy is a better fighter for my money, and Joe actually won by first round knockout this week too.
Enjoy UFC200!

you seem to be saying that there are good fighters but Conor is not one !

Personally I think the games are some what rigged for the entertaining characters to make it, and its as much about bums on seats as it is blood on the Canvas. I agree about the self promotion of McGregor and that's what these organisations want, a business man. I hope Conor is and can be both. handshake

Hey there.
Nope Conor is certainly a good fighter. He's very formidable at featherweight as he's so much bigger than everyone else.
I thought Jose Aldo was small looking when he fought McGregor, but Aldo's actually one of the bigger guys at featherweight, and Conor towers over him.
So at Featherweight he's always very competitive, though Jose looked better for UFC200 than he's looked for a long time, and he's gonna be on a mission to dethrone Conor after his fight with Nate. - As Aldo has the interim belt now and Dana White has said that Conor has to defend his belt after the Nate fight, or surrender it. I think Max Holloway a serious threat to everyone too.
Yep you're right though, the game's certainly rigged for the 'entertaining characters', way more than the legitimacy of the fighters.
Tough one to call but I think with a full camp, it'll be another tough night for Conor. Who knows though.

Yep Lightweight at least would be a more natural category for him. He looks really healthy even heavier , at 170, but if Conor want's to be champ, he has to do so at featherweight.
At lightweight he'd be up against it with Khabib Nurmagomedov, RDA and Eddie Alvarez in particular, and it'd be even more futile at welterweight. Robbie Lawlor and particularly wonderboy Thompson are mass murderers.
Either way he'll make a crapload of money wherever he fights, but if he wants to be a champ he'd better stay where he is, and even then it's uncertain with a revitalised Aldo and Max Holloway chomping at the bit.
Interesting stuff.

@GalwayGuy35,
I like what you are saying about the others being naturally larger.
A lot of people seem to forget about bone density as well.
I would say The bigger skeleton is a mighty advantage when it comes to hitting even if the opponent is in less shape.
We all heard Conor put Diaz down in this respect at the run up to the last fight. A lesson I think he has taken a lot of knowledge from.
