Tulefel: I’d rather enjoy raisins, than cake.

I did think very much the same!

Why do people take the raisins out of the cake???
(I am not fond of cakes neither)

I like raisins, the yelowish and dark ones.

In fact I am going to make a fruit cake for my son's birthday in a few days and I am going to put lots of raisins in it, dried figs, cherries, some candied orange peel, etc....

laugh Ya, good question. I have a myriad of food allergies. I can't eat raisins, they make me swell up and look like a small volvo. So, I pick 'em out. Can't eat most cake either, unless it is gluten-free, so it was probably a silly comment to make in the first place.

Success with the cake and congratulations on your son's upcoming birthday.

Ouch!

Alergies are terrible Immanuelle. Can you get some vaccines for them?

One of my 2 children have some alergies too.

Thank you very much for your words on my child's (well, grown up "child")birthday. I do appreciate it.

Sounds very tempting… Why wouldn’t you serve the filling as it is? ‘d save a lot of time.

Quite right…
Particularly, for the long time of baking.
This one took 2 hr and 40 minutes.

But, it was for my son’s birthday, so we had to have a birthday cake!
And it was delicious –still there is some in the fridge-

immanuelle: Although I am a practising buddhist, I cheat and still have desires. Hypocritical perhaps...but makes my life a bit richer. Expectation and fulfillment or expectation and disappointment...all good for me.

Cheer up friend. Life is good
life is all you have ...the greatest understanding of time ...if love is not shared everday ...then we have unfullfilled our reason for existance ...

you choose your own path ...when freedom allows ...otherwise another determines your destiny ....in which cash we are puppets !!!

It was fast laugh

The recipe says to bake for 3 to 31/2 hours!!!

But mine was done in less time, I am a speedy chef grin

Here is the recipe. I did not use any frosting just some light candied figs and some candied orange peel (home made).

A little story about desired things....

About 11 years ago, my younger brother and I had been visiting my mother in hospital. On our way out, just before the exit door, we walked past a shiny, new vending machine, the kind full of bags of potato crisps, chocolate bars...One packet of crisps took my eye. The label 'Lime and cracked Pepper' jumped out at me. But it was the worst kind of teasing, as I didn't have money on me, neither did my brother. I stood there drooling at this exotic sounding delicacy which was eluding me...

Suddenly, we saw the chrome lever open up, and release one packet of these lime and cracked pepper crisps. The lever went back into position, and the packet fell to the bottom. All had occurred as it does every time you put money in such a machine. Except that on this occasion, no money had been inserted!!!...My brother and I looked at each other...well, he looked at me as if I was a freak!!!uh oh ...and I looked around, wondering who might have witnessed this event, waiting for them to carry me away and burn me at the stake as a witch!..No-one came of-course, so I leaned over and reached into the metal cavern and retrieved MY packet of crisps.
laugh

Moral of the story...if you desire something badly enough, you can achieve anything!!! peace laugh...(it's taken me all these years to truly appreciate the significance of that event).

Lovely story Venere! Thanks for sharing it.

Actually, I do feel sympathy for those who never experience some supernatural occurences .... I love them! Confirms to me that there is Higher Power than me, that I am in fact quite an amazing creature, and that by acknowledging this Higher Power it comes into my life when called upon.
