The sky has turned grey The leaves gone from the trees A cold wind replaces The warm summer breeze
Birds have flown south I watched them flock together In their hundreds, across the sky, they soared In search of warmer weather
The garden is bare, summer colours asleep The buds of winter blooms, just beginning to peep Squirrels gathering their winter crop Scurrying around they never seem to stop
The dark nights are drawing ln How long the night appears to be Memories of those long summer nights When you lay here with me
You picked me summer flowers we sat together on the lawn sitting under a starlit sky often chatting until dawn
I savoured every moment, mine was not to reason why When come the end of summer, you would have to say goodbye
Summer love, bright and breezy Bittersweet, we had to part The warmth of the memory, of hot summer nights Through the winter, they'll warm my heart!
