Hi agoodguy,
Thanks for your comments,I did take a walk down memory lane when I penned it,though Jack was a figment of my vivid imagination! I'm new to poetry but quite enjoying the challenge.
What a lovely poem. I loved how it just made me feel relaxed. Thinking back in my own memories. Well done

Hi BB
This transports me back to another age, another England even, when the streets were safer, when "drug dealer" hadn't even entered the lexicon of every day language.
If my memory serves me well, it NEVER rained way back then, did it? Why doesn't somebody just go and INVENT a time machine and transport us back to our youth....
Enjoyed the read

Hi bestbefore,
Reading this poem is like hopping along with a "spring happy" little creek. It makes me smile, the story about brother- and sisterhood. "Down the lane we tumble........On Farmer Giles's land" that verse in particular got to me.
Well what else can I say....I believe you have what it takes!!
Thank you for sharing

Good Morning to all who left encouraging comments.
For fellsman,I wrote this from the heart as I too hate the way of the world today. The days of childhood innocence have long gone unfortunately.
Swade,Thanks for the comparison to Mark Twain!!! I'm delighted to "educate"the Americans to a younger, carefree England.Scrumping was such great fun,as long as you didn't get caught!
Silent springs,Thanks again for your kind words.I was transported back to a magical time in my life.Thank goodness for the ability to remember.
