Underestimate me It’s okay Go ahead make my day You never bothered to Look within The outer me didn’t fit in I was too goofy to be Bright or so you thought I was too clumsy to Have any grace Too trailer trash To have any class lol My car is old My clothes Second hand No money in the bank No wedding band Outer appearances are all you saw Not the glint in my eyes That belied my heart Please now from me Take your shallow soul And depart
Well said Dawn.....why do people think they see all about a person by what is staring them in the face...without thinking...why and if......great write....glad you know your worth...Niah
Dawn, some people only see the clothes and hair and the blah , blah, blah, they look at me the same way they do at you and other people.Well , if only appearances matter they should carry mirrors with them.
all I can say is people never get away from junior or senior high school mentality. they take the i'm better then you through their own self rightous lives. a great write
kickit.

Greetings to the Mile High City and 'you' Dawn, from one who once lived there!! (Aurora actually - near Cherry Creek Reservoir). As well Parker, Franktown, Castle Rock and Colo. Sprgs. I thought Colorado was Heaven on earth .... until .... I discovered S.W. Oregon!!
Really good message in this poem Dawn.... and admittedly (Shamefully so)... I'm guilty as being one that puts a tremendous amount of importance on 'outward' appearance before ever considering liking the person or dating the person. I'm so shallow, upon me... a paper boat couldn't float!!! Maybe THAT'S why I'm still single?? And all this time I thought it was due to being of the homely sort myself!!
Thanks for the poem Dawn!! Maybe "I" should start carrying a mirror around! Great comment there!!
Thanks for your comments lol. All of them the poem is not directed at a bunch of humans just those who seems to like us and then proceed to pick us apart. hmmm.
