Quiet

Silence makes itself heard in this place
turning off the cacophony of the radio
and tv
only layers of quiet and memories
piling up
The essence of who were are
is discovered in the absence of words
reflection and deflection
negating the perfection
expected in our busy lives
Shut out the world
for a bit
so I can hear my heart
Heal heart so I can go out into
the roar of people and give again
Heal so I can draw that
one to me
who has sat in their own silence.

When I write it is somewhat autobiographical obviously but it is also meant to comment on the human condition. If we learn then who is to say that we are making bad choices? If we have had the privilege to love then it was something special whether it turned out or not.
