Hawk

I sit in the grass
my back against the tree
I hear a hawk's
lonely "CREEEEEEE"

My eyes focus
to find him soaring in the sky
I have often wondered
How do they get up so high

How would it feel
if it was me
Absolutely wonderful
to be truly free

To dip and dive
and bank left and right
and rest in a tree
in the dark of night

To soar like a hawk
and be so free
yet be so alone
his call seems to me

"CREEEEEEEEEE"

Hi, country_lady67,
Though I would not want to trade places, it is a marvel to watch them soar. And, your poem almost made me reconsider...until I got to the yet...
