where's dad

he never came,reasons why
i did not know
dispite my invite
he never did show.
i did not have to
but i know he's alone
reasons why dispite my full house
i invited him to my home.

my table is full
yet for him i set a plate
and because he didnt show
twas good food gone to waste.

christmas returns to the attic
thaw begins after snow
and there lays the answer to her question
why dad did never show.

he slipped he fell
unable to get up
he gave in to not feeling wanted
no longer feeling loved.
the snow was cold
yet it was a blanket of warmth
for it took him from a world
where he no longer wished to belong.

About this poem:
last christmas an elderly man vanished, where to wasnt known till the snow thawed.. his death always pulled at my heart strings as to why no one looked for him, especially them that were expecting him.

Hi, itchywitch,
Yes, some news is quite perplexing and disturbing, leaving one wondering what type of relationships he had built, how reliable he was at showing up on other occasions, and, the closest to home, could something like that ever happen to us or someone we know. Thanks for sharing.

true, one would wonder..
but even the bestest of parents are forgotten.
