The Stars Are Going Out

Threads that bind the ankles of the souls of men
A life condemnation never to be broken
Thoughts sent without haste, the pigeon made redundant
Yet the hearts of men have never been more alone

Stars seize to shine as eyes fill with tears
Rings of promise no more put on til' the kiss of death
Promises that die as the home they were made on
Stars are going out, faster than they have ever done before

Borders made obsolete through inventions in time
The globe smaller as the threads find no obstacle
The world connected through thumbs and the back of a chair
Yet never has man been more aware of the loneliness life brings

The stars are going out and the sky crumbles above us
The human tongue made an object only to taste
Love, hate, expressed only through liquid crystal
The touch of a fellow struggler forgotten and uncherished

About this poem:
The poem i wrote after watching an episode of Supernatural. In the episode, Sam is about to be killed by this thing which attracts its prey (people) by literally calling them on the phone (I think it's called a Crocata). this creature points out that before technology, he used to have to whisper in the darkness for people to "Come to me". He said that back then he would barely get a "meal" because people looked out for each other. He goes on to say that despite how connected we all are these days through technology, we humans have never been more alone...and that's basically what the poem is about.

Michael welcome to our corner.

Your writing is very deep in depicting and portarying the downside of human progress to being taken far far away from our roots. |Youcouldn't have presented it in a very simplified yet very direct loss of our human connections.

Great write and thanks for your write
