Memorial day

The guns
The guts
The fire
The stench
The blood
The exhaustion
The view of Hells
landscape
The terror
The horror
The victories
The losses
The band of brothers
The resolve
The courage carved in
nobility
The heat
The cold
The faith
The questions
The broken hearts
The wounded
The dead
The images
The memories
The metals
The honor
The few
The proud
The brave
The heroes
The graves
The monuments
The eagles who dare
The soldier..
Memorial Day!

About this poem:
No words could describe war..but my thanks
to the great ones who died giving me the
freedom to write these words. Their reward in
heaven is great.

this is inspiring
what a powerful medium
like bullets flying everywhere
and yet I'm standing there

looking, seeing,watching,
knowing,thinking,showing,
the brave and bold,
the young soldiers.

a fitting memorial,
a blessed offering,
a sincere praying,
a lonely ending.

you made this all seem ,
just and beautiful,
a wonderful and passionate!
poet with a humble heart.

I thank you for this magnificent poem
I thank you for sharing
I thank you again and again
my friend and a wonderful man!

Ty ladyjewel..It's most unfortunate dear that we must do volience
to those who would destroy our freedom and the freedom of others but the adversary would have it no other way.

Ty Morgan..Actually Morgan, I like what you just wrote better
than mine, but I hope some soldier reads mine and knows
that their great contribution will touch hearts forever.

it came about because
you made it first
never forget that. partner
mine Will only sound
better when read after yours
by itself it has no power of its own
nor Will anyone understand
so it fits nicely when people read
yours first and mine just adds more
meaning to yours
truly inspired I am
you are the hero
and my idol
thank you

Hi, cafetwo2010,
For all of "The" things your poem mentions, we acknowledge and express gratitude for such great sacrifice and mourn such great loss. In Remembrance, not only on Memorial Day but every day we live in peace and freedom.

great tribute...lets us not forget the cost others have paid for our freedom.

Hi Jim

A simple, yet very effective tribute to those who make the ultimate sacrifice - and to those who survive (yet who on occasions seem to be almost overlooked), but who endure the most appalling life changing injuries imaginable. They defend the freedoms that we often simply take for granted.

Best wishes

Ty Bill..Perhaps a small tribute, yet each word
in this poem could spawn a whole book in
themselves. Your comment is most telling.
