I was born with a rebel soul One my parents finally gave up control My lonely vision was different from theirs It follows its own path, so just be aware
The harder I find rugged mountains to climb The deeper I dig in, adding fuel to my mind If I hear it’s black, and then see it’s all white I don’t ever hesitate to defend what’s right
I may not have much of a leg to stand on When the majority rules our journey we take But I’ll even resort to crawling if I have too Just to make sure that I’m in with the fray
There are those with a warped sense of authority That often try to break me down to the ground And at times I allow them to put me on my knees So my eyes have to look up where they need to be
Maybe what I believe in is only important to me
It’s my take on experience, from what I’ve seen But I’ve never fought dirty, sneaky, or mean Not like our globally operated machine That’s every politician’s nightmare or dream
Though my life can be stifled by the status quo It will never be able to tame my free spirit Because God created in me a rebel soul And as I look to Him, I then give up control
