When we’re free and all alone We’ve got plenty of time to think About what to do as time goes on If we stick with the same routine
Memories of our past sweet lovers Bring big smiles to our hearts While even glimpses of the bitter ones Make us glad that we’re apart
Still, if our ties go deep enough They can take some time to uproot Cutting cords and moving along Can feel more like pulling a tooth
We know that it’s beyond repair The abscessed cavity can’t be filled And yanking it out will stop the pain But the hole it leaves just might kill
So our natural instinct is to save it Instead of losing that bit of our self And we try to postpone the inevitable Knowing the loss might hurt like hell
Eventually though we have to let it go When the dentist says it’s time to replace And only then after we finally give in Do the big smiles return to our face
In everything from teeth to love We know there’s a chance we might lose But risky consequences add spice to life So we indulge in the candy we choose
While some like dark chocolate bitter Others like it milky and sweet And it’s easy to predict individual tastes If we stick with the same routine
Hi, BellaNora, Whether bitter or sweet the taste, as Forrest Gump quoted his momma as saying, "Life was like A Box of Chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." So, as the poet writes, we indulge in the candy we choose. Thanks for sharing this tasty, poetic write on everything from teeth to love.

Hi gnj4u... thank you for reading and commenting, i'm glad you enjoyed this verse.
The first dollar I ever got was spent on 20 candy lipsticks, so I've had a sweet tooth all my life. I spent many years of my youth drinking pop and eating chips. I have to admit I love my mello yello and my cheese, chips, and other junk food.
