"Words of a penniless fool"

Where does the rarely seen valor and unbroken stride hide?

The only adornment on your skin should be pride.

Let those be the treads of the cloth.

There's no price to be the flame and not the moth.

With such uncertainty we desperately try to find a meaning of this life.

For some the quest of love and simplicity will suffice.

But others are on a pilgrimage for power and money which comes with any sacrifice.

They say seek and you shall find, but sometimes you end up empty handed.

Sometimes we burn the candle on both ends to meet everything that is demanded.

It is in our nature to be lust drunk and we are addicted to taste that it could last.

But time is no one's friend, it will never wait and before you know it, memories makes what's present the past.

As humans we are the closest things to what we perceive as god and the devil.

We can give the gift of life and take it away, in those aspects we can either be a saint or a rebel.

There's no right path, it doesn't matter if you stay a steady course or stray.

What is important is that you some how leave you mark that will never fade but in the pages of history adhere.

Its the one thing that can prove that you were once here.

Hi, IvoryPetals,

Your poem captures the struggle of human nature. That 'we can either be a saint or a rebel' (god vs devil?) may be true; but, to create good is certainly a greater challenge requiring more intelligence and depth than creating less-than-good. Anyone can break things...to make things better requires true greatness. Life's journey continues...
