Never Judge A Book By Its Cover!
Author: Unknown
The female swan, she jumped straight up,
As her eggs all started breaking.
For the time had come for her eggs to hatch,
After all those weeks of waiting.
First three, then four, then five hatched open,
Now just one more left to go.
The sixth came out as black as soot,
whilst the rest we're white as snow.
They would tease him, and they would call him names,
He was outcasted, and left all alone.
Just because he was different from everyone else,
One day decided to run away from home.
As the weeks passed by, they felt like years,
Not a day passed by where he didnt cry.
No matter how many times he would think about it all,
He just could not understand why.
Then one day as he stepped up to the waters edge,
Sad faced and bearing a frown.
Came to him the biggest shock of his life,
From his reflection as he looked down.
For no longer was he black as soot,
But he was now as white as the driven snow.
For he had turned into the most handsomest swan,
You could ever wish to know.
Everyone stopped and stared when they saw this swan,
Walking so proud and full of glee.
For now everyone wanted to be his friend,
including his own family.
And from that day on he was never alone,
This duckling once abandoned by his brothers.
So the moral of this poem really goes to show,
Never judge a book by its covers.
