Donald who...?

Biden gave the state of the union address last night and have to say Joe wasn't sleepy in the least bit. He was clear, powerful and covered many topics stating facts and figures, especially with border security.
Good job Joe...
I didn't expect them to chant "Four more Years, Four more Years"

Biden was brilliant thumbs up

Policy matters & Biden kicked Maga crayons right in the guts with real policies

Biden kicked Magao crayons with real facts & real truth

I have never doubted Biden beating Trump all over again

Nikki Haley grabbed vast Republican voters who are Never Trumpers The majority of those voters will go to the polls voting for Biden

People need to stop Referring to the Trump cult as Republicans as the real Republicans of yesteryaer with real morals deserted the Republican party

We all know anyone whom supports Trump has the IQ of a crayon
I've just started watching it and two things strike me about the prologue:

It's predominantly older women and women of colour wearing white. I wonder if younger white women haven't the same historical reference points to conceptualise how the US has just made women second class citizens. Women are no longer considered capable of making decisions in the same way as men are in the US.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty chuffed that there are generations of women who maybe don't carry the burden of oppression to the full extent that older women and women of colour do. By the same token, I'm not sure they realise what's hit them yet and that pains me.

The second thing is how happy and affectionate the response is to Biden's entrance is. They all want to touch him and speak with him which has surprised me given his 'creepy Joe' reputation. He's practically getting mauled out there. laugh

The Biden smiles and his giving out warmth in the face of adoration are in stark contrast to the Mussolini downturned mouth sneers that Trump does when he's taking adoration to bolster his own sense of self-worth.

Trump gatherings are rather menacing by contrast.

None of this should be a surprise and yet it is. I think I have become desensitised to some aspects of the social dynamic in the US simply because so much has become normalised that really shouldn't have been.
As usual, I see Marjorie Taylor Green was making a fool of herself.

I've watched a bit more.

It's a bit of a 'We will fight them on the beaches...' kind of a speech, eh?

Whoa! I just got to the bit where Biden promised passionately and authoritatively to restore Roe vs Wade...and the then camera panned to a very huffy looking Supreme Court in the audience. rolling on the floor laughing

That was a classic. laugh
No, but I hope the woman who love him are smart enough not to vote for him.

thumbs up
I'm loving the way the Republican half of the room and Supreme Court justices are all sitting there, arms crossed and scowling like spoilt children and the Democrats are acting like they've got fleas biting their arses, jumping up every five seconds and yelling. rolling on the floor laughing

I probably shouldn't find it so funny, should I? laugh

I have to say Joe Biden is playing a clever hand of cards there. He's upbeat, passionate and generous with his praise of others against a backdrop of Trump's negative, selfish style.

I've still got about 45 minutes to go, mind.
The reasons women wore white are:

Lawmakers seen wearing all-white at the president's State of the Union are commemorating the 19th Amendment. Passed by Congress in 1919, the law granted women the right to vote following decades of agitation and protest.

With so much going on in the news about Invitro eggs in Alabama being destroyed if they aren't used by the end date women are protesting. In addition, Alabama says that the eggs are babies and if they are destroyed it is considered murder.

There is much more about this in the link.

I'm thinking Speaker of the House Mike Johnson didn't realize that he was in clear view of the camera that was focused on Biden.
All his 'rolling eyes' frowning and facial expressions were clear to everyone. I like the part when Biden made reference to them nixing a partisan bill that would protect the border because Trump told them to do it.

Well... I was pro-Biden 4 yeas ago and now I can say that he was a weak president. He did say all the right words for the most of times, but I cannot see that he did much. To have him a leader of the progressive part of the world for the next 4 years? Meh...

Trump was and remains a repulsive individual. But the analysts say he, or rather his administration, earned a few points, like achieving some agreement between Israel and some of Arabic states (I do not distinguish them in all my white supremacy :/ ). Again, during his administration, the sanctions on putler's regimen became harsher.

That's said, it think it's a shame that such a great nation came to choosing between 2... let's say, lesser individuals, that it should have if we lived in a better world.

I am personally for Nikki Haley. Just for a change.
all i heard were a bunch of lies, projections, and blame for things the current misadmionistration has done and gotten away with.

like it or not, get past the lies, targeting, and division stoked by the demonrats and media; TRUMP'S policies were sound and productive. that's why they had to kill it. demonrats needed the lies and spins to make the weak minded think they did something for the country and citizens.

even the abraham accords trump was able to enact were trashed.
Can you describe the lies? I didn’t hear any.
Biden's address was angry - and thoroughly predictably - dishonest (and divisive)

For an honest (and sobering but necessary) assessment of affairs, take a listen to what Douglas MacGregor had to say:

Most of the world would disagree, his speech was forceful and made several important points, especially how trump had decimated the American economy, with thoughtless regard to the impact his decisions would make on the average American.

If Biden lied then spell them out. Let’s all hear them.

Why do you never criticise Trump’s proven lies but always pick up on Biden small exaggerations?
Divisive?

Oh, wait. That came from CNN and Gal say's they are fake news. Please disregard.
laugh
Really...? shock

With her 'life begins at conception' attitude towards abortion with no exceptions, not for rape, not for incest/child pregnancy, not if a woman dies in agony leaving her other children orphaned?

That's not just a personal attitude of hers, that's the bill she tried to push through in her home state to force every other woman into a position of second class citizenship by not being allowed to have an opinion, or say in her own medical care.
laugh never heard this one before. laugh laugh
Listened to people's opinion of the President's speech one would think the democrats and the republicans heard two different speech.

President Biden gets multiple of these. thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up
Biden's address was angry - and thoroughly predictably - dishonest (and divisive)

Donald Trump's speeches are angry - and thoroughly predictably - dishonest (and divisive).

corrected...
I stopped watching the video you cited at, "Our national security is compromised."

A random statement with no explanation in the context of Trump's 31 charges under the Espionage Act has no credibility in terms of supporting Trump and as such, neither does the video.

I think you also misinterpret emotions if you view Biden's speech as 'angry'. It's much more nuanced and varied than that.

I have no idea how much of the SOTU address was accurate, nor whether it was mere rhetoric. The salient point is that he appears to be employing more intelligent tactics than Trump in the way he not only presents himself, but presents the electorate to themselves.

But who knows, maybe people being told they're shit and the country is shit is where the majority of Americans feel most emotionally familiar and comfortable and that will win through. dunno
Small exaggerations laugh Biden lies as easily as he breathes. He pretended like the economy is in good shape when in reality most 'new jobs' cited from his administration are either jobs that came back after lockdown, people taking on 2nd and 3rd jobs to make ends meet, and low paid jobs given to millions of illegals that suppresses wages for actual citizens. No mention of gas and many staple foods - both costing nearly 50% more since he took office. No mention of the 10m+ illegals his administration has rolled out the red carpet for, at immense expense to the taxpayer. No mention of mortgage rates being at twenty year highs, locking people out of the housing market. No mention of credit card debt being at all time highs as people are stretched to the limit to make ends meet. No mention of trillion dollar money printing in just a hundred days as the debt spirals. No mention of the huge increase in attacks on food processing and energy facilities. No calls for peace in Ukraine. He lied and tried to take credit for Trump's policy on insulin prices (Biden immediately revoked Trump's policy upon taking office and then reinstated it under a different name so he could claim credit personally).

Biden started his speech by alluding to his opponents as Nazis, despite his administration charging and jailing numerous Trump associates, and charging almost 2,000 people from J6, including most recently a conservative journalist who has exposed numerous Democrat lies regarding J6. They put him in handcuffs and leg shackles, despite him voluntarily showing up for the court appearance. Maybe he should be grateful he wasn't subjected to an early morning SWAT raid by a dozen armed FBI(Stasi) agents, like so many others who committed no violence on J6 were?????

Joe Biden is an absolute scumbag. Everyone knows it. Crooked as they come. But because the media told you to hate Trump, you dutifully oblige. Actual authoritarianism is happening before your eyes, it's happening from Democrats. Weak people seek to deny it. Weak people also sought to deny what was happening in early 1930s Germany, and in Communist China and Russia as purges got underway.

Lawfare trying to bankrupt Trump on fake s*xual assault charges and fake charges in NY where there was NO INJURED PARTY (banks were repaid in full, on time, and with interest). Trying to remove him off the presidential ballot so people can't decide who they want to be president, and trying to jail him with BS charges in Georgia, Florida and DC for things that have NEVER been considered criminal offenses before. Of course no mention of any of that.

What's next, should we wonder? Try to assassinate Trump? We shouldn't be surprised if this is tried. This coalition of forces opposing Trump has shown us there is very little they WON'T DO. They are possessed with a maniacal hatred for this man. It's pathological. I'd even say it's demonic. Expect a bumpy remainder to the rest of the year. Trump is currently leading Biden in polls for ALL Swing States. They're terrified of him. So if not assassination, then what will they try? We know The Left specializes in chaos. Look at the complete insane meltdown from Trump's first 4 years in office. So chaos there will almost certainly be. And the agents of it will no doubt try to point the finger at everyone except themselves.

But between dissent within their own ranks (look at all the protests regarding what's going on in The Middle East) and low approval in general, they might find little inclination among people at large to accept it
Maybe in your world he is...
The media didn't tell me to hate Trump. Actually, I don't.
I've said it many times, he's a world-class con artist.
Can you find better?
Didn't know about that. But I believe that quite a lot of European countries, until recent or perhaps still, have forbidding or limiting access to abortions. Is it a death sin only in Haley's case?

Another angle, being a politician, she is saying what she thinks would bring her votes.

Beside that, what more sins does she got? Especially as compared to the two... well, senior male members, that some home for elderly is waiting for impatiently.

PS As to "life begins at conception": there's some Eastern believes that say, that a live begins 3 months before your birth as you-wanting-to-be-born power brings together your parents, they want it or not. I do not share that philosophy, just wanted to point out that there is a lot of believes, that my pagan soul laughs itself silly every time at. But it changes nothing.
I'm loathe to enter into a discussion about abortion on this blog as it would be off topic.

However, I don't think you are registering the implications of abortion bills that are 'life begins at conception' restrictive, nor the true underlying motivation for creating those restrictions in the US.
Well... whatever I think on the subject, matters not. I cannot vote in USA election.

As to abortions: you certainly know that there was "abortion tourism" from the republic of Ireland to UK until recent. If you objected that in whichever way, I admire you. But was it your objection or changing opinion in the Republic of Ireland that made the change?

Can you affect the opinion about abortions in USA?

I cannot vote in USA election. But I can have my preferences. My preference is Nikki Haley given the reality.

Once again: my preference matters not as I cannot vote in USA election. So there's no point to quarrel about.

I do possess a valid Russian passport though. What, according to you, should I vote in the coming election? Do you support Noon against Putin? Is it ok for you if I participate in it? What's their stand about abortions?
jac, Tul... don't hold back.
It's a topic that President Joe Biden talked about in his State of the Union address.

thumbs up
If my comment left you feeling defensive, I apologise, but I'm a bit confused.

Why do you raise awareness about political prisoners in Russia to people like us who can't vote in Russian elections?

And didn't you say to me when I asked how we might contribute to resolving this issue, 'live well'?

I'm trying to raise your awareness about the consequences of the new rulings in the US and how it has it's roots in reaffirming second class citizenship for women and people of colour.
